How has SMA and Planet Soccer teamed up?
Through Scott McDonald's highly successful playing career in Scotland, Scott was aware of how successful the Planet Soccer Programme was throughout the UK and was keen to implement this program in his home country for youngsters to benefit from. Planet Soccer recognised the benefits of Scott’s experience in the game, as well as his coaching qualifications and it made sense to progress into Australia. with Scott as the driving force behind it. In forming The Scott McDonald Academy (SMA) we have created a pathway from early years to adulthood providing a variety of sessions from introductory to elite sessions that will not be rivalled in Australia, whilst also creating opportunities in the future for travel in both the UK and America.

OUR AIM
Our aim is to develop our players in purposeful practice sessions with quality feedback working on individuals technique and skill while attaining game awareness and composure working in tight situations. We encourage our players to play without fear and let their personalities shine through, to take risks on the field to allow creativity.
We also aim to create a growth mindset environment.
TECHNICAL ABILITY
Honed through dynamic drills that aim to perfect technical skills. The development of each individual player is placed at the heart of every exercise.
TACTICAL ABILITY
As players progress through our age groups we will run through several detailed individual and team match situations, to be alternated throughout week to week schedules.
MENTAL FACTOR
We train our players to make effective positive decisions in pressurised situations that will help later in game related scenarios. We aim to develop their speed of thought to adapt with changeable tactical and technical situations.
EMOTIONAL AND SOCIAL FACTOR
We look to promote an identity fostering the values of respect, honesty, hard work, commitment, bravery and teamwork. To be applied both on and off the pitch. Our aim at Planetsoccer SMA is to give our players a fun safe environment where they can grow as individuals and make friendships along the way, while learning a lot of important life skills not just needed for on the pitch but more importantly off it, for their life journey ahead.
